The Forcia Building Life Cycle 2017

16th Oct 2017

The third edition of the Forcia Building Life Cycle took place on Saturday 16th September 2017 in Hassocks, where 130 property industry cyclists took part in 76.6km race. Thankfully the sun was shining and the race began with beautiful blue skies over Ditchling Beacon.

The competitors gathered at 9am for registration and breakfast, the first team set off at 10am prompt. As the cyclists were reaching the start point the buzz and excitement was extremely evident with new competitors aiming to recoup the trophy from last year’s winners Price & Myers. However Price & Myers were keen to retain the trophy, were geared up and ready to go! Our own team Forcia were ready and present and hoping for a win.

The first stage of the race was an uphill ride towards Ditchling Beacon which is 200 meters higher than sea level. The surroundings and views provided the perfect backdrop. From there, more climbs and descents awaited the riders, taking the groups by a train track. Luckily none of the riders got held up although a few cyclists apparently got lost en-route and only realised as they approached the M23!

Forcia provided a full crew support in the form of a broom van to pick up any injured cyclists, sports injury therapist, mechanic.

The fastest timed recorded was 2hours, 30 mins 26 seconds achieved by Aviva Investors. For many cyclists this was their first ever race and the longest distance they had ever cycled and although physically exhausted with many tired legs many competitors were thrilled with their achievement.

At the finish line drinks, i.e Forcia Brew, BBQ, and live music was awaiting the somewhat tired cyclist who never imagined they could complete the distance!

Prizes and trophies were handed out to a number of the competitors and it has become evident that The Forcia Building Life Cycle has grown from strength to strength with more competitors taking part every year. We welcome new riders into the fold and repeat riders back.

The Forcia Building Life Cycle is also proud to have raised a fantastic amount of £1,030.04 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
