The team’s solution comprised three key elements. The demolition of two buildings fronting Chelsea Manor Street – and new buildings constructed behind the retained facades, with basements – as well as structural alterations and refurbishment of the main corner block.
We were tasked with significant alternations and refurbishment to an existing building to enable it to accommodate retail units at ground floor and basement level, with homes above. The property is Grade II listed, bringing the additional challenge of conducting major works very sensitively.
We overcame multiple logistical challenges to conduct extensive demolition while retaining the integrity of the existing Grade II facades and maintaining good neighbour relationships through a careful approach. The result is a contemporary space for retail businesses along with beautifully appointed residential accommodation.
