The Solution
The project consisted of two phases to accommodate the exhibition schedule. We installed a full height acoustic partition and corridor, carried out mechanical and electrical reconfiguration and – in parallel – created a new opening for the souvenir shop. Phase 2 focused on the lobby area.
The Challenge
The refurbishment required extensive structural works and layout alterations to divide the large Paccar exhibition space into two separate areas. With the added complexity of doing so in a Grade I listed building and within the live environment of a library that attracts 1.5m visitors yearly.
The Impact
Undertaking comprehensive refurbishment, we revealed the original black lacquer walls and leather curved sofa, also restoring the ceiling to its former glory. Sensitively retaining the integrity of this important building, we delivered on deadline and budget despite narrow timeframes.
