The Solution
We successfully installed a one-metre-deep frame, with the universal beam sections cantilevering back over the lightwell. The steel frame was then reclad with a lightweight façade steel framing solution and brick slip system to reflect the unique original style of this beautiful building.

The Challenge
Forcia was appointed to carry out an extension into the lightwell, thereby adding 20 new hotel rooms. The extension was positioned over a UKPN substation, so the structure needed to be cantilevered over the lightwell.

The Impact
Forcia’s in-house steel division oversaw the complex installation from beginning to end, rejuvenating and updating this historically important building in a way that mirrors its original purpose while providing an upscale hotel experience for the modern guest.
