The Solution
A complex project where we rationalised and amalgamated retail units; refurbished and enhanced finishes; added new shopfronts; removed the central column and upgraded entrances on Regent Street and Glasshouse Street; replaced M&E services; undertook external pavement works and re-roofing; and installed new skylights to the lightwell.
The Challenge
We needed to demolish the original column fronting the arcade, to be replaced with a 16-tonne steel beam to open up the entrance. This meant propping up 180,000 sq ft of live office space on upper floors with temporary works and adhering to strict noise restrictions.
The Impact
Quadrant Arcade has many striking and classical interior features, which were restored to their fullest beauty, complemented by modern design touches, colour and lighting. We rejuvenated the basement, ground, first and mezzanine levels, creating a new West End shopping experience, with new units and a restaurant for all to enjoy.
