180 Shoreditch High Street

Leisure
Shoreditch High Street | Projects | Forcia

Repurposing a building on one of the most fashionable and vibrant East London streets to hold a new restaurant and homes.

Forcia transformed an existing derelict Grade II listed building formerly occupied by Natwest Bank, with significant façade refurbishment and creation of two apartments.

The Solution

Our team engaged closely with Thames Water to develop a workable methodology, undertaking all works in sequence to ensure there was no loss of pressure on the crown of the sewer. This included vibration monitoring.

The Challenge

We needed to lower and extend the basement level over a Victorian sewer, a complex process that required a meticulous approach. Works also included the replication and reinstatement of existing joinery in the old banking hall as part of the restaurant fit-out.

The Impact

The façade has been structurally repaired and refurbished back to its former glory, and the old bank building has been given a fresh lease of life and a new direction – with a grand new restaurant space and residential accommodation.
