The Solution
Taking a sustainable and conservation-first approach, we enabled this historic building to function as a contemporary office by completing a rear extension, extensive mechanical, electrical and joinery works, and reconfiguration of basement areas to facilitate the provision of new amenities.
The Challenge
In the heart of Clerkenwell and built in 1697, the property is within the Charterhouse Square Conservation Area, overlooking 14th Century monastic buildings. This project represented an opportunity to restore it in a sensitive manner while undertaking complicated works including lowering the basement slab.
