The British Museum located in the Bloomsbury area of London has a permanent collection of human history, art and culture with some 8 million works. It was established in 1753 and was first opened to the public in 1759 being the first national public museum in the world. From the beginning it granted free admission to all ‘studious and curious persons”. Visitor numbers have grown from around 5,000 a year in the eighteenth century to nearly 6 million today.
We are proud to announce that Forcia have been invited to join the British museum framework with the opportunity to be involved in constructing future projects. This marks another special milestone in Forcia’s journey and ambition to being the best construction company in London. The latest project having been completed by Forcia in November 2017 being the Sir Joseph Hutong Gallery. The renovation of this gallery means different types of objects such as paintings, prints and textiles which need regulated conditions to be safely displayed can now be included and rotated. The gallery now also introduces new research and contemporary projects allowing visitors to engage more fully with these extraordinarily important parts of the world.
It is of no coincidence that the British Museum’s objectives compliment our own in terms of taking care of the environment along with the desire to deliver amazing projects allowing for special artifacts to be stored and displayed in a safe environment.
